OfficeMax surprises 1,000 teachers with $1 million in much-needed classroom supplies

October 14, 2011

OfficeMax® Incorporated recently donated more than $1.7 million in classroom supplies to teachers nationwide through OfficeMax’s annual “A Day Made Better” classroom surprise events. The program helps provide economic relief and encourages national support for teachers, who often fund extra classroom expenditures from their own pockets.

That was good news to teacher Khristina Renninger, an exceptional fifth grade teacher in the Central Dauphin School District’s North Side Elementary School. Each morning, Ms. Renninger’s students shake hands with one another in what has become a morning ritual. They have a “sharing” moment each day in which one child shows something to the others. And, students say that Ms. Renninger makes learning more fun with such innovative practices as playing You’ve Been Sentenced! word game!
