Laughing while learning; The Homeschooling Club’s favorite language arts games teach in an entertaining way!

March 15, 2011

The Youve been Sentenced! word game is one of The Homeschool Clubs favorite language arts games.

Homeschooling moms know that kids learn faster and retain more when they are having fun! And what better way to learn while you’re laughing then playing a game? Unfortunately, many “educational games” are just that – educational. Fun? Not so much!

But, The Homeschooling Club has chosen their top fun (and educational!) language arts games in three categories including Games for Beginning Readers, Games for Intermediate Readers, and Additional Resources.

According to article author Janiece, “Playing word related games provides children an enjoyable way of practicing their reading, spelling, and grammar skills! Children tend to pay better attention and actually learn more when they are doing something they enjoy, so why not try to make learning an engaging and pleasurable experience?!” I agree!

Specific games include the You’ve been Sentenced! word game, which Janiece says , “… really tests one’s ability to make sentences! How creative can you be? Can you find a way to use one or two 20 point words in your sentence, or to create the longest sentence for that round? The sentences are often hilarious, but they count as long as they are complete sentences!”
